Hampton Bays Elementary School's K-Kids held a rubber ducky fundraiser to provide gift cards to local families in need this Thanksgiving.
Southampton High School senior Shea Rodriguez was recently named to the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association All-County Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
Westhampton Beach Middle School Student Council members recently raised $546 through a fundraiser in which students challenged every grade level to purchase as many “turkey feathers” as they could at a cost of 50 cents each. All feathers purchased are being displayed on a turkey image hanging in the school’s main hallway. The proceeds will be used to purchase nonperishable goods for the council’s December food drive. Sixth graders won the contest by purchasing 480 feathers. They will be rewarded with an extended lunch period in December.
In giving back to veterans, the Southampton High School Mariners Patriot Club, under the direction of Thea Fry, delivered 100 turkey dinners to local veterans on November 21 and 22. The dinners were made possible through an extensive food drive, hosted by the club members.
Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School chemistry teacher Priscilla Tuttle recently presented at the Science Teachers Association of New York State’s annual conference.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, Southampton High School culinary arts and baking and pastry classes made 30 pumpkin and 10 apple pies to be served in the high school cafeteria on November 30. Along with practicing food safety measures, the students honed their cutting, weighing and measuring skills. They also worked on time management by making multiple pies in a 40-minute period.
Students at Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School participated in seasonal activities during its annual Thanksgiving Feast on November 19.
Sixth-grade students from Raynor Country Day School went head to head with the Southampton Town Police Department in a cornhole competition recently.
