Our Lady of the Hamptons in Southampton Village is preparing to open its doors for the new school year on Tuesday, September 7. Principal Sister Kathy said this week that enrollment is strong and staff and faculty are excited for the return of the full after-school athletics and band programs to complement the religious, academic and fine arts offerings at OLH.
There is a waiting list for students in the kindergarten through eighth grade classes, but interested families can contact the school to be considered if spaces open up. Registration for new students in the four-year-old program at the preschool at St. Rosalie’s in Hampton Bays is also open with limited availability.

On August 26, members of the Southampton Town Police Department, the Southampton Town Police Explorers, and HUGS, Inc. participated in a “Shop with a Cop” event sponsored by Walmart stores. The event helped children from Southampton Town purchase much needed school supplies for the upcoming school year. Walmart in Riverhead sponsored the program and the Southampton Town Superior Officers Association and Southampton Town Policemen’s Benevolent Association provided funds to the program.
Registration is now open for The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau’s “Youth and Government” program. Youth & Government is sponsored by the Alliance of NYS YMCAs and is a national program that involves teens in state-organized, model-government programs. Students in grades 9 through 12 will have the opportunity to practice experiential civic engagement and learn about the democratic process. Youth will discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of New York State and will get a chance to attend the state conference with youth from across New York.
The Southampton Youth Bureau’s Youth & Government program is held on Wednesdays, beginning September 22, at a meeting location yet to be announced. For more information, call 631-702-2425 or visit southamptontownny.gov/youthbureau.
