As part of an opinion writing unit, Southampton Elementary School second graders wrote about the changes they would like to make in their local community. The students presented their opinions and ideas at Southampton Village Hall to Mayor Bill Manger and trustee Gina Arresta, with guidance from teacher Nick Epley. Following their presentation, they heard from Manger and Arresta about how board meetings work and how village laws get made. Hampton Bays Middle School musicians in grades six to eight recently earned first-
place awards with a rating of excellent at the Music in the Parks festival in New Jersey. To
earn the rating, the sixth, seventh and eighth grade chorus, band, harmonizers and jazz
band each performed selections for judges. The students were also the recipients of the
Esprit de Corps Award. Saxophonist Gustavo Tzitzimititla was also selected to receive a medal and award for his outstanding solo. Following the performances, the students enjoyed a day of rides and entertainment at Six Flags Great

As a symbol of their commitment to the pursuit of higher education, the Westhampton Beach High School Class of 2024 wore the apparel of their college of choice on June 3. The class will be heading to a number of premier schools this fall, including Cornell University, Boston University, Brown University, Stony Brook University and Princeton University. “We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2024,” said Principal Dr. Christopher Herr. “They have made their mark on Westhampton Beach High School, and we wish them the very best in the future.” COURTESY WESTHAMPTON BEACH SCHOOL DISTRICT

On a recent sunny afternoon, Southampton Intermediate School students participated in a run against hunger at their school. In addition to taking part in the fun run, the students also engaged in a variety of carnival games and bonding activities. They raised a total of $5,000 through pledges. Registration Open for Pre-K And Kindergarten at Southampton School District

Registration for pre-K and kindergarten at Southampton School district is open. Residents of the school district should call 631-591-4517 to schedule an appointment. Documentation will be required to prove age and residency. Children who will be 4 years old by December 1, 2025 are eligible for prekindergarten; those who are 5 years old by that date are eligible for kindergarten.
