To thank the Southampton Animal Shelter for visiting their classes to talk about its Humane Education Program, Hampton Bays Elementary School second-graders donated $1,206 to the shelter. To raise the funds, the students sold mini stuffed animals during the week of March 7.

To mark National Foreign Language Week, Westhampton Beach High School’s French and Spanish clubs hosted a door decorating competition, with more than 100 students participating. Working in groups, students competed to decorate classroom doors to celebrate the language and culture of countries around the world. The foreign language department faculty voted on the “best dressed” doors and the winning group  was Jessicka Alvarado, Paulina Herrera, Haley Salmeran and Helen Yac with the theme of Mexico.

On Monday, March 14,  students and staff of Raynor Country Day School honored Pi Day with its annual schoolwide celebration.

Members of the Westhampton Beach High School Youth to Youth Club recently collected 1,400 pounds of food, 288 pounds of toiletries and 405 pairs of socks. The effort was led by led by  school counselor Joe Garvey and school social worker Kaitlin Gebhardt. The donations were delivered to community organizations
and pantries that will distribute the items to local families in need, as well as to those in Ukraine. Additionally, students wrote hundreds of thank-you letters to members of the armed forces serving through Support Our Troops.
