Westhampton Beach High School senior Mia Pazera recently performed as a member of the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Mixed Chorus in Hartford, Connecticut. She was among 185 juniors and seniors from the East Coast to be selected for the ensemble. The Southampton School District recently cut the ribbon on new lactation/nursing rooms at its elementary and intermediate schools. The rooms were unveiled following the successful addition of a similar room at the high school earlier this school year. As per New York State law, the district has always provided lactation/nursing facilities in its buildings, but Darren Phillips, director of athletics, physical education, health and wellness, said the district aimed to create spaces that are more welcoming and nurturing for nursing mothers. Hampton Bays High School recently hosted a successful 12th annual Science Research Symposium. During the event, research students presented their findings on a wide variety of topics, including anthropogenic effects on piping plovers, nautical anthropogenic effects on whale acoustics, surgical treatment for chronic migraines, and the impact of AI on the labor market. Following the student presentations, attendees asked questions. Also speaking during the event was guest speaker Christopher Paparo of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University, also known as the "Fish Guy." The varsity and junior varsity teams from Southampton High School and Southampton Intermediate School recently came together to volunteer as part of the Southampton Town 2025 Great East End Cleanup. As part of their driver’s education course, Hampton Bays students are learning how to change flat tires, put air in a tire and hook up jumper cables. Driver’s education teacher Katie Drohan added the hands-on lessons to provide students with additional knowledge about roadside safety.
