The Southampton School District recently cut the ribbon on new lactation/nursing rooms at its elementary and intermediate schools. The rooms were unveiled following the successful addition of a similar room at the high school earlier this school year. As per New York State law, the district has always provided lactation/nursing facilities in its buildings, but Darren Phillips, director of athletics, physical education, health and wellness, said the district aimed to create spaces that are more welcoming and nurturing for nursing mothers.
