The Westhampton Beach High School girls varsity soccer team recently wrapped up a successful Kicks for Cancer fundraiser and awareness campaign. Through teamwork, the players raised $2,000 for the cause by collecting donations and wearing pink during a recent game to help spread awareness. Hampton Bays Elementary School students recently learned about bicycle and car safety as part of a Teddy Bear Clinic sponsored by Stony Brook Children’s Hospital Trauma Center. They also had the opportunity to diagnose their teddy bears with an injury and treat them with bandages. The Southampton Intermediate School National Junior Honor Society participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 4, joining hundreds of community members in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research, education and support. Wearing pink and walking with along with faculty advisers Kristen Minter, Mei-Lynn Guerrero and RoseAnn Gentile, the students came together to support survivors, honor those lost and stand united in the fight to end breast cancer. The event, hosted by the American Cancer Society, took place at Grangabel Park in Riverhead and served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community involvement and compassion. Southampton Intermediate School students came together in a sea of orange on October 22 to celebrate Unity Day, a national event that promotes kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Dressed in bright orange — the official color of Unity Day — students and staff participated in a variety of kindness activities designed to foster a positive school culture and reinforce the importance of standing together against bullying. The Southampton High School counseling department recently took 30 students to visit Suffolk County Community College. The students toured the school and learned about campus life and college majors.
