The Southampton Intermediate School Garden Club kicked off its fall season. At their first meeting, students planted lettuces donated by Adam Halsey, watered and weeded several raised beds and harvested yellow cucumbers. The club also created beautiful flower bouquets using blooms from their fairy garden, which was established last spring. The garden is thriving with a variety of produce, including jack-o’-lantern pumpkins, New England pie pumpkins, acorn squash, butternut squash, carrots, tomatoes, and zucchini. Harvested vegetables will be featured in the school’s cafeteria salad bar and incorporated into eighth grade Home & Careers cooking classes.
