New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo’s office will be hosting a Shed the Meds prescription drug collection and Senior Medical ID card event, in cooperation with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hampton Bays Library.
“Shed the Meds is a way for residents to get rid of unwanted or expired medications to keep them out of our groundwater and away from children. In addition to that, we will be offering the Sheriff’s Senior Medical ID card program. These medical ID cards assist seniors or those with medical needs to keep all required medical information available on a small card with them at all times in case of emergency,” said Senator Palumbo.
All medications brought for Shed the Meds will be incinerated so they may be brought to the event in their original packaging. The Sheriff’s Office is not able to accept liquids or sharps at this event. Free at-home COVID tests will also be available to anyone who would like one at this event on a first-come, first-served basis.
