Sheila Durand of Hampton Bays dies at 72

Sheila Durand

Sheila Durand (née Allen) died at her home in Hampton Bays on September 3. She was 72.

Mrs. Durand worked as the office manager of Stepping  Stones in Hampton Bays for  several years.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Durand and his wife Sharon of Hampton Bays, and Jaime Durand and his wife Susan of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Derek, Dylan, Lauren, Deana, Shay and Katerina ; and two great-grandchildren, Summer and Rio.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Durand; three sons, Keith, Dale and Beau Durand; and two brothers, Charles Allen II and Jeffrey E. Allen.

The family and members of the Hampton Bays Fire Department held visitation on September 6 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.

Funeral services, officiated  by the Chaplain of the Hampton Bays Fire Department,  the Reverend Daniel Harris of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church on Shelter Island, were held on September 7, also at the funeral home. Interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 349, Syracuse, NY 13220 or the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays, NY 11946 would be appreciated by the family.
