Shelter Island 5K Set for October 21

The annual Shelter Island 5K Run/Walk in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month will take place Saturday, October 21, at 11 a.m., rain or shine, at Crescent Beach. Registration is $40 for both walkers and runners, kids 12 and under participate for $20.

Participants will receive T-shirts, bibs, post-race refreshments, food, awards and a complimentary barbecue while it lasts. Runners may register online at events.elitefeats.com/23shelterfall.

Proceeds benefit women on the East End fighting breast and gynecological cancer through East End organizations including The North Fork Breast Health Coalition, The Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Southampton Hospital and Lucia’s Angels.

Hampton Library To Host Family Festival

The Hampton Library will hold a Family Fest FUNdraiser on Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Channing Daughters Winery in Brigehampton. The afternoon of family-friendly activities will include outdoor fun and games, a family olympics run by the children’s librarians, and activities led by the Children’s Museum of the East End and Shine Studios. An opportunity to experience “The Sled,” an interactive walk-in mobile tech library featuring electronic games and a green screen will also be available. The Animal Rescue Fund invites all to its Pet Celebration Day on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the adoption center, 124 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott. Pets are also invited.
