Sherman S. Rubenstein of East Quogue died on May 1 at Stony Brook University Hospital, surrounded by his wife and sons.
Born in Brooklyn in 1926, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines during World War II, and worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for more than 50 years. For 48 years he and his wife lived in the home they had built and had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 12.
A lifelong motorcycling enthusiast, he belonged to the Queensboro Motorcycle Club, the oldest motorcycle club in New York City and even appeared in “The Teenage Gang Debs,” a cult classic biker movie.
Mr. Rubenstein is survived by his wife, Adrienne Rubenstein; and three sons, Herbert, Robert and Andrew. He was predeceased by a son, David, in 2012.
Visitation was held at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on May 6. Interment was at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.
