Harmful Algae Blooms Detected in Kellis Pond, Mill Creek and Old Town Pond

Harmful algal blooms have been detected in a handful of South Fork water bodies in recent weeks. Surface water samples from Kellis Pond in Bridgehampton, Mill Creek in Water Mill and Old Town Pond in Southampton taken by SUNY Stony Brook water monitors were found to contain blue-green algae blooms, Suffolk County reported. Harmful algal blooms were also detected on Wainscott Pond in Wainscott on September 25 and in Lake Agawam in Southampton Village, though blooms in those water bodies have been an issue for months, with tests approximately weekly yielding the same results.
