Shirley Mae (Stumme) Phillips of Southampton died on February 13, 2017, at Southampton Hospital, in the company of family. She was 86 and the wife of the late Thomas W. Phillips.
Born on September 11, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Herman A., Sr. and Bertha M. (Bennett) Stumme. A lifelong resident of Southampton, she graduated from Southampton High School in 1949 and grew up as an active member of the United Methodist Church. In more recent years, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Southampton. After graduation, Ms. Phillips worked at J. Vincent Early Real Estate and Cunningham Agency and, later, at Nikolich Sanitation. On October 9, 1965, she married her one true love, Thomas W. Phillips, with whom she enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She also enjoyed spending lots of time with family and friends.
Ms. Phillips is survived by a sister, Marjorie Squires; a brother, Ronald Stumme; nephews, Norman Stumme and wife Doris, Theodore Squires and wife Kirsten, and William Squires; nieces, Deborah Frantz and husband James, Cynthia Bricker, and Teal Vella and husband Stephen, along with many great- and great-great-nephews and great- and great-great-nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Herman A. Jr. and Richard A.; a sister, Joan A. Bricker; a nephew, Bud A. Stumme; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
