Jay Schneiderman’s show of shows was held on Wednesday, December 27, during the special Southampton Town Board meeting, regarding the Liberty Gardens project [“Liberty Garden Developers Present Final Environmental Report to Southampton Town Board,” 27east.com, December 20].
Of course, all knew how Schneiderman would vote — yes. After all, his love affair with developers still continues.
It was, however, so disappointing to hear the two Democratic councilmen, Tommy John Schiavoni and John Bouvier, vote the Jay way. These two men couldn’t even bother to have a prepared statement to justify their vote; they just spoke off the cuff, and it showed. This elitist attitude is so typical of the Southampton Town Democratic Party.
Kudos to Councilwoman Cyndi McNamara, who voted no and presented a powerful, detailed statement justifying her vote. I hope she will continue to remain a strong voice on the newly elected Southampton Town Board advocating for all residents.
