Presenting accurate facts in news reporting is key — not opinion. Kitty Merrill’s article regarding Superintendent of Highways Alex Gregor and the St. Andrews Road East [“Highway Superintendent Gregor Continues To Dispute Golf Club Road Ownership,” 27east.com, April 14] is slanted. That is my opinion.
Where are the facts, in writing, that the town relinquished the rights to St. Andrews Road East?
Where is the former superintendent of highway’s signature on the land transfer deed? Where is the deed? Where is the certificate of abandonment?
We all know that the current town supervisor, Jay Schneiderman, wanted to give Tuckahoe Road to the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. In full disclosure, I started a petition and collected over 2,800 signatures against the road giveaway. But this isn’t about me — it’s about reporting the facts, not opinion.
Alex Gregor is protecting the properties of the town. My belief for an unbiased newspaper is reporting the facts, not the reporter’s opinion. Show us the land transfer documents.
