Smart Voices

As North Haven residents prepare to vote in the upcoming trustee election on June 17, I urge support for Peter Boody and Max Rohn, two candidates who represent the thoughtful, balanced and constructive leadership our village needs.

Peter Boody, running for reelection, has brought a steady, informed voice to the board. A North Haven resident since 1979, Peter brings over four decades of experience covering local government as a reporter and editor, including nearly 20 years as editor of The Southampton Press. His deep familiarity with municipal operations, combined with a practical understanding of how local code applies in the real world, has been invaluable to the board.

Among his many contributions, he drafted the recent clearing code amendment that protects legacy trees, an example of his thoughtful approach to safeguarding our village character while addressing evolving concerns.

Max Rohn, CEO of Wölffer Estate Vineyard and a father of two daughters in the Sag Harbor School District, would bring fresh energy and thoughtful leadership to the board. His wife, Joey, is also a pillar of the local community, and together they are deeply invested in the future of our village.

Known for his respectful and inclusive management style, Max leads by listening and collaborating, qualities that are essential in a small village where consensus and community matter. His local ties and forward-thinking perspective would be a valuable addition to our board.

I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Peter. We don’t always agree on the issues at hand, but I value his constructive perspective; our differences always lead to better outcomes for North Haven. Max Rohn, likewise, brings another smart voice to the board, someone who can help guide North Haven through the years to come as a level-headed, results-oriented trustee ready to address the complex challenges we face.

Peter and Max share a commitment to practical solutions, community engagement and responsible governance.
