Southampton High School was closed to in-person instruction on Friday, October 23, following notification that a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
“The staff member was not present in the school today,” a message from school Principal Dr. Brian Zahn states.
All athletic intramural activities were canceled Thursday evening, October 22, and Friday, October 23.
High School students followed a full remote program on Friday, with the regular bell schedule via Zoom as articulated in the school’s instructional program, which is posted on the district website.
All high school instructional staff members were also told to work remotely on, Friday, October 23.
“We would like to assure our school community that the high school, and all Southampton buildings, undergo a full cleaning and disinfecting on a nightly basis,” Dr. Zahn’s message made clear. "This protocol will continue while the high school transitions to a full remote program tomorrow.”
This is the second case reported in the district. The state “report card” erroneously attributes an earlier case at a private school to the district.
