Southampton native Sister M. Frances Lotko of Monroe, Connecticut, died on October 18. She was 95.
Born December 15, 1913, in Southampton, she was the daughter of Sophie (née Trojan) and Bruno Lotko.
A member of the Holy Family of Nazareth since September 27, 1932, Sister Lotko was an elementary school teacher, teaching at several schools in New York, including St. Isidore School in Riverhead, St. Albert School in Elmhurst, St. Hyacinth School in Glen Head and St. Stanislaus Kostka School and St. Peter Claver School, both in Brooklyn. She also taught in St. Mark’s School in Stratford, Connecticut, St. Michael School in Derby, Connecticut, St. Mary’s School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and for six years cared for the children at Little Flower Institute in Wading River.
Sister Lotko’s devout service also took her to Puerto Rico, where she ministered at Colegio Espiritu Sancto for a year. At age 77, she retired to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent in Monroe.
She is survived by two nephews, John Borucke and his wife Joyce of Southampton and Allan Borucke; two nieces, Charlotte and Barbara; and several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was on October 20 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent in Monroe. A funeral mass was held on October 21 also at the convent, followed by interment in the Holy Family Cemetery in Monroe.
