In its first pass at the 2025-26 budget, officials at the Southampton Union Free School District suggested growing the tax levy by 3.02 percent, or nearly $1.9 million — which would still be within the state cap on tax levy increases due to certain exemptions, according to Jean Mingot, assistant superintendent for business. The total proposed annual budget, coming in at $82.2 million, increases 2.88 percent, just under $2.3 million, from last year’s spending plan.
