Southampton Pickleball Club Moves Up Its Annual Heart of the Hamptons Tournament

authorStaff Writer on Sep 13, 2023

The third annual Southampton Pickleball Club’s Tournament to benefit the Heart of the Hamptons will take place on October 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will once again be held at Southampton Youth Services. This is about two months earlier than it was held during the previous two years, a change that organizers said will help raise funds for the locally run charity Heart of the Hamptons during its most neediest time of Thanksgiving.

Those looking to sign up can do so at events.elitefeats.com/23pickleball.

Each player can sign up for a maximum of two events, one doubles and one mixed doubles event. The site will ask registrants to choose a single event. An asterisk is required for every question, or it won’t submit. At the end of the process to sign up, there will be a blue bar asking if registrants would like to sign up another person or to sign up for another event. Registrants who are 3.5+ players with a partner who is a novice-3.0, are asked to sign up for the 3.5+ event. If a partner is needed, a check box is provided for and the club to find one. If a level is unknown, contact Vinny Mangano at vmangano@aol.com for help. Both partners must sign up.

Commemorative Southampton Pickleball Tech T-shirts are on sale for $15. They can be purchased on the site. Male (crew neck) and female (v-neck) sizes are available. Sponsors of the event, are advised not to purchase a shirt, and to just send in T-shirt sizes.

Anyone who can’t attend the tournament but would like to make a donation or purchase raffle tickets, can follow the prompts on the site. Raffle tickets will be available on the day of the event, or, in the event purchasers can’t attend, organizers will fill out the tickets and enter them. Raffle tickets will also be sold the day of the tournament.

There will be a happy hour after the tournament at Lunch/Lobster Roll from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Play times are as follows:

Women’s doubles-novice-3.0, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Women’s doubles-3.5+, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Mixed doubles-novice-3.0, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Mixed doubles-3.5+, from 12:15 to1:15 p.m.

Men’s doubles-novice-3.0, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Men’s doubles 3.5+, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
