Raymer Choymilian, 31, of Flanders was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI on May 17. Southampton Town Police had received a call about a pickup truck stopped at the intersection of Cross River Drive and Flanders Road, Flanders, with the driver asleep at the wheel in the left turning lane with the truck running. When police knocked on the window of the truck, the vehicle started rolling into the intersection. The responding officer jumped into the vehicle to put it into park. SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A Dale Street resident thwarted a scammer who called to say he’d kidnapped his daughter and would release her for $1,200 sent via Venmo. The target immediately called his daughter and the Southampton Village Police. Police went to the daughter’s home and found her sleeping, not kidnapped. The man’s phone did show a call supposedly coming from her phone, while her phone didn’t show the outgoing call. Checking with the service provider’s law enforcement support line, police learned they couldn’t provide any information if a third-party app was used to “spoof” the daughter’s number. Three occupants of an East Quogue home were able to escape unharmed after the house on Bayside Avenue caught fire Tuesday afternoon, May 23. The single-family home sustained significant damage, according to Public Safety Administrator Ryan Murphy. He said wind was a factor in fueling the fire. UPDATE: Highway Cleared Montauk Highway was cleared and reopened in both directions by 7:42 a.m. Original Story Montauk Highway in Water Mill was closed between Cobb Road and Little Cobb Road Wednesday morning due to an accident.
