Approximately 2,000 households and businesses, mostly in Southampton Town, were briefly without power on Monday evening after an osprey’s nest caused a fire on a utility wire in Water Mill.
According to Jeffrey Weir, a spokesman for PSEG Long Island, power was lost at approximately 5 p.m. and restored to all customers by approximatley 5:30 p.m. Some utility customers in East Hampton Town may have been affected as well, he said.
