UPDATE: Wednesday, 10:45 a.m.

The fire has been extinguished, according to Bridgehmapton Fire Chief Gary Horsburgh, and is being investigated by the Southampton Town Fire Marshal's office.

According to Cheif Horsburgh, the fire was contained to one corner of the barn, and was being fueled by oil on the floor. It was under control very quickly after firefighters arrived on the scene, he said.

There was no structural damage to the building and no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. According to Chief Horsburgh, the barn is used as a work space, and there were several welding and grinding machines on the premises . It is unclear at this time what caused the fire.

The Bridgehampton Fire Department, Southampton Town Police, and Southampton Fire Marshal were all on scene.

Firefighters were on the scene of a barn fire in Bridgehampton on Tuesday morning off Horsemill Lane and Mecox Road, according to chatter on a police scanner.

The Bridgehampton Fire Department, Southampton Town Fire Marshal, and Southampton Town Police were all responding to the scene, Southampton Town Police confirmed. More information was not immediately available.
