UPDATE: Tuesday, 3:00 p.m.
The Southampton Fire Department responded to an automatic alarm of a fire at the Hamptons Gym Corp location in the same building as the Hampton Jitney on County Road 39 in Southampton on Tuesday.
According to Southampton Fire Department First Assistant Chief Chris Brenner, crews responded to the automated alarm, but did not find any evidence of a fire. Also at the time was a power surge in the area, which the fire department also responded to.
A fire marshall stayed on the scene at the gym, and was alerted of another fire alarm, this time for smoke in the men’s locker room of the gym.
Crews entered the building, found that the source of the smoke was a burned out motor on the HVAC unit located on top of the building, according to Mr. Brenner . He said there was no damage to the building and there were no injuries reported.
Both the Hampton Jitney and the gym were evacuated for about a half hour, but was reopened once the building was deemed safe.

The Southampton Fire Department responded to a fire at the Hamptons Gym Corp location in the same building as the Hampton Jitney on County Road 39 in Southampton on Tuesday after smoke was reported in the building.
According to Southampton Town Police Lieutenant Susan Ralph, no injuries were reported, although the power was going on and off and there was smoke reported in a locker room. The town fire marshal was on the scene.
Firefighters and emergency workers were standing by in case of any injuries.
