UPDATE: Highway Cleared Montauk Highway was cleared and reopened in both directions by 7:42 a.m. Original Story Montauk Highway in Water Mill was closed between Cobb Road and Little Cobb Road Wednesday morning due to an accident. According to Southampton Town Police, at around 5 a.m. the driver of a construction vehicle took evasive action when a deer ran out onto the road. One person died on Monday, May 8, when a train struck a vehicle on the tracks that cross South Bay Avenue in Eastport.
