Southampton resident Harry B. Dopp dies at 89

Harry B. Dopp of Southampton died on March 16 at his home in Southampton. He was 89.

A U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II, he worked for the Grumman Corporation until his retirement. In addition, he served as commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dunes Post 7009 in Southampton in 1998 and 1999.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys (née Roy) Dopp in 1992, and three brothers, Melvin Dopp, David Dopp and Morris Dopp.

Visitation was on March 21 at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton, where a Veterans of Foreign Wars service was held. A prayer service was held on March 22, also at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors followed at Southampton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dominican Sisters Family Health Service, P.O. Box 1028, Hampton Bays, NY 11946-0404 or Dunes Post 7009 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, PO Box 1314, Southampton, NY 11969 would be appreciated by the family.
