Robert Rosenblatt, known as Bob Rose, 82, of Patchogue died on November 14 after a long battle with esophageal cancer.
Born January 8, 1927, in Brooklyn, Mr. Rosenblatt served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was Chief Executive Officer of Rose Jewelers in Patchogue and Southampton and received the Jeweler of the Year award from the New York Jewelers Association.
Mr. Rose dedicated many years to his community, serving on the board of directors of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and earning the Theodore Roosevelt Award from the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council in 2001. A past president of Patchogue Lions Club, he also served on the advisory board of the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Rosenblatt is survived by his wife of 62 years, June; three daughters, Jan Rosenblatt, Lisa Gordon and her husband Ira, and Beth Elgort and her husband Stephen; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Alison, Brooke, David, Rachel and Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Molly and Eden; and a brother, Murray and his wife Kathryn.
Friends and relatives gathered for a funeral service on Monday, November 16, at Temple Beth El of Patchogue, and interment followed in Patchogue Hebrew Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Bayport-Blue Point Funeral Home.
