Southampton Town Police Interrupt Speonk Burglary, Arrest Middle Island Man

Southampton Town Police caught an alleged burglar in the act on early Sunday morning after a Speonk business owner reported seeing two men shortly after 2 a.m. on his security cameras.

Multiple police units and a New York State Police K-9 unit arrived on the scene at 1448 Speonk-Riverhead Road, which is an industrial complex, and discovered forced entry to a rear door, according to a release from the Southampton Town Police Department.

One of the men, Michael Pearl of Middle Island, was found inside the business, the release said. The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and second- and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies. Information on the second man was not available.
