Southampton's updated policy is four spectators per athlete.
The Southampton School District updated its policy for indoor sports late Tuesday morning.
All junior high, junior varsity and varsity boys and girls basketball, junior high girls volleyball and varsity wrestling home contests will be limited to four spectators per player. In a letter sent out by the district and signed by Southampton Athletic Director Darren Phillips, parents who have children playing on these teams will check in with security upon entry into the school.
“Due to the recent increases in positive COVID cases and to ensure a safe environment for players, coaches, support staff, officials and spectators at indoor athletic contests,” Phillips explains in the letter.
It’s noted that all JV and varsity boys and girls basketball games will continue to be live streamed on the Southampton Athletics YouTube channel and wrestling will continue to be live streamed on YouTube on tanddsportsvideo1 channel.
