Southampton Village Hires Specialized EMT For Bidens' Visit

Hiring a new specialized emergency medical responder was one of many preparations Southampton Village officials made for a Memorial Day visit to the village by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his wife, Jill Biden.

Because a specialized responder is required to be on hand when VIPs visit, and the one who had been hired last year on an as-needed basis for that purpose was unavailable, the Village Board hired Randin Miller at a rate of $25 per hour on an as-needed basis just before the Bidens’ visit.

The vice presidential couple reportedly stayed at the same First Neck Lane estate they did last year. Last summer, the Bidens reportedly stayed at a private residence belonging to philanthropist and technology entrepreneur David Bohnett.

Mr. Biden and his wife were spotted strolling through the village business district last year over Memorial Day weekend, as well as in early August.
