Anyone driving down Hill Street could say, “It’s quite messy,” Southampton Village Board member Mark Parash noted at the board’s January 9 meeting.
He said he had touched base with Public Works Superintendent Gary Goleski in December and learned that there were approximately 48 potholes in a stretch of Hill Street starting at the western edge of the village and running to the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus of Mary.
Mr. Goleski hired a contractor, and, last Friday, the work commenced on Hill Street.
Mr. Parash said that, come spring, the contractor will be back to mill and redo the road. Mr. Parash offered a “great shout out” to Mr. Goleski for getting the paving company to come make the repairs at no extra cost under warranty.
