State Assembly Leaders Visit Shinnecock Nation Territory

Tribal leaders of the Shinnecock Nation met with state officials on the nation's territory last week and discussed the tribes needs for roadwork assistance and educational and healthcare funding. The state officials also toured the tribe's paused gas station development in Hampton Bays, which tribal leaders said was a hopeful step but that there were not specific discussions about the legal fight the tribe is embroiled in with Southampton Town over their rights to develop the land free from town zoning constraints.
