Westhampton Beach Village Police detectives have partnered with Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to help figure out who stole a fuel cell containing more than 500 gallons of diesel fuel from a construction site at Lashley Beach on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach last month.
Village Police received a report of the missing fuel cell on Tuesday, November 19, at 7:53 a.m. The complainant told police that the fuel cell had gone missing sometime between November 18 at 4 p.m. and November 19 at 6 a.m.
In a press release last month, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers released the fuel cell tracking number, 528TC27. It weighed over 6,500 pounds at the time is was stolen.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is also offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for any information that could lead to an arrest.
