Summary Judgment

By the time this edition of The Press gets into our hands the debate between the candidates will have been aired and autopsied. If I may make a prediction, it is that Vice President Harris will continue to try and reinvent herself as a centrist Democrat whose best endorsement for her election is who she is not, Joe Biden.

Even I can agree with that. But the charade begins here. Her entire career has been built on racial and gender qualifications. She is a Californian progressive and an environmental fanatic. Her parents were highly educated Marxists. Kamala Harris is a product of academic socialist parents of the middle class. Curiously, she has been able to rise politically using the false narrative of growing up in the racial hood of Oakland.

When Trump says she isn’t Black, it’s his way of saying she is a fraud and polls say he is not alone. Black men are also not warming to her impersonation. Women white or otherwise on the other hand embrace her for her gender. Harris amplifies their paranoia by lying that Trump will legislate an end to all abortion. Reality check anyone? Candidate Harris, unlike Trump, has serious issues with authenticity. Everyone for better or worse has a good idea of who Donald Trump is. Ms. Harris is best described as a kind of Democrat Rorschach Test. They project on her their most closely held desires for a perfect candidate. It is an illusion that will inevitably be undermined by the knowledge she is indecisive and vacuous.

Examples?

She was the border Czar, or was she? She said the border was secure. She said she had been to the border, but not France. Or was it the other way around? She was against fracking until she was for it? Previously a climate zealot, she now mumbles gobble-dy-gook that cannot be understood.

She supported Bidenomics, but is proud of how the inflation it created was coming down.

She was against prosecuting the criminally undocumented by ICE in sanctuary Californian cities but now professes to be tough on border crime perpetrated by the cartels. She sought relief from bail for Black Lives Matter rioters requirements that would incarcerate individuals doing harm to police and property and selected as her running mate Governor Tim Walz, who refused to send the National Guard into Minneapolis for three days as the city burned. Mr. Walz ignored the mayor and President Trump himself, when order needed to be restored, commenting that the anarchy was legitimate protest. My summary judgment is Harris has had the great good fortune to fail upward, but that trajectory has reached its limit.
