Susan Paula Kramon

Susan Paula Kramon, a summer resident of Westhampton Beach for more than 25 years, died on October 15 at the Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, Maryland, of pneumonia. She was 65.

Ms. Kramon grew up in Pikesville, Maryland. She attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and received her
master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland.

She worked for 14 years at various social work agencies, including Jewish Family and Children’s Services, and was an active participant in the National Association of Social Workers, the American Cancer Society, and many other organizations.

Survivors said that Ms. Kramon’s ability to connect with and care for even the most peripheral people in her life through her generosity of spirit was never diminished in any way by more than two decades of medical difficulties.

“She was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known: wickedly funny, full of grace, dignity, and gentleness. I don’t think there was an ounce of pettiness or prejudice in her,” said Mark Brenner, a radiation oncologist who treated Ms. Kramon for skin cancer, and who, like many people who crossed her path, became a close personal friend.

Ms. Kramon is survived by her husband of 44 years, James M. Kramon, a founding partner of the law firm of Kramon & Graham P.A.; a daughter, Annie Kramon, a teacher, of Manhattan; a son, Justin Kramon, a novelist, of Philadelphia; two sisters, Gail and Emily Samuelson; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Hong Trieu.

A private memorial service will be held on October 23 at the family’s home in Pikesville, Maryland.

All local stories matter. They matter to some portion of readers, and they certainly matter to the journalists sharing them. But there’s always an article that hits home a little more than others. Bill Sutton, who is the managing editor of The Express News Group, was never comfortable being in the pages of our newspapers. But he agreed, because his story is so important — and can help so many others — because he needs a donor kidney. He’s not alone: There are some 100,000 people in the United States alone who need life-saving organ donations. It’s testament to modern ... 4 Jun 2025 by Editorial Board

Nearby are The National, which dates to 1911, and Shinnecock Hills, founded in 1891, the celebrity courses that every golfer knows and dreams of playing. Southampton, though, is the overachieving ... by Editorial Board
