Teddy J. Hoinski Of Southampton Dies April 30

Teddy J. Hoinski of Southampton died on April 30 at Southampton Hospital. He was 93.

Born in Southampton on July 11, 1921, he was raised in Southampton, graduating from Southampton High School, where he won medals for track and golf. His love of golf had him caddying, including at the Shinnecock Golf Club, at the age of 9.

He served in the Army Air Corps for three years in the European theater during World War II. He returned to Southampton to work as a fine-finish carpenter with the firm of Harry Wilde. He was an active volunteer fireman, serving in the Agawam Hose Company, for 30 years. He was known as a skilled gardener, specializing in growing tomatoes.

Upon retiring, he continued his love of golf and was an active volunteer with the Friends of the Rogers Memorial Library. He traveled all over Europe and the United States with his companion of 21 year, Fran Burns.

In addition to Ms. Burns, he is survived by daughters, Denise Flint and husband Mike, and Sharon K. Frances; grandchildren, Holly White and husband Tim, Shawn Flint, Patrick Flint, and Samantha Flint; and great-grandchildren, Levi and Theo White. He is also survived by sisters, Edna Kolenda and Mary Korte; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was held on June 6 at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton.
