Terribly Ironic

Read in last week’s Express (I needed a detective to help find the story on 27east) about the “GolfGate” campaign donation of $120,000 that went into the town supervisor race this month [“Political Support for Maria Moore Traced to Robert Rubin; Nonprofit Says Ads ‘Impersonated’ Group,” 27east.com, November 8].

Terribly ironic that the character allegedly implicated owns a golf course with business before the Town Board. It was claimed that he hid behind the logo of a nonprofit dedicated to clean water, and funneled the money to the winner’s campaign.

What struck me as terribly ironic is the fact that second only to the damage done to our aquifers and groundwater by conventional septic systems is the fertilizer application and chemical lawn feed that keeps grass shamrock green. And what entity uses more fertilizer than a golf course?

Might have been smarter to borrow a logo for affordable housing.
