The Church of the Atonement in Quogue has lost one of its own.

The Reverend Dr. Richard McCall died at his home in Bloomington, Indiana, on December 30, following a short illness. He was 75.

McCall has been one of the priests during summers at the church for over 20 years.

He held master’s degrees from Indiana University and Nashotah House Theological Seminary. His PhD in liturgics was from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. Following service in parishes in Indiana and on Long Island, he taught liturgics at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley and the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

He and his wife, Terry, retired to Bloomington in 2010.

He is survived by his wife the Reverend Dr. Terry McCall; children Anne Robichaux and husband Myles, Emily Beane and husband Trent, Ross Dinnsen and wife Liz; four grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.

A memorial service will be held at the church in June.
