The Right Choice

I am writing to offer my strong and enthusiastic endorsement of Rob Coburn in his candidacy for Southampton Village trustee.

Rob and I served together on the Southampton History Museum’s Restoration Committee. Initially focused on the grounds, our work eventually expanded to the physical restoration of the Rogers Mansion. The committee’s responsibility was to design, fund and execute restoration plans approved by both the museum’s board and the appropriate village agencies.

Throughout this process, Rob distinguished himself with initiative, sound judgment and an impressive ability to navigate the complexities of both planning and approval processes.

For more than 30 years, various committees had reviewed outdated architectural blueprints, with little or no progress to show. Many of these efforts stalled, producing few results and often ending with the familiar refrain: “nothing to report.” In some instances, outside opinions were sought, occasionally giving the appearance of self-interest rather than community focus.

In contrast, during my time working with Rob, I was struck by his ability to cut through inaction with a clear understanding of the issues and a genuine commitment to serving the village.

Rob doesn’t just analyze problems — he acts. His data-driven, thoughtful approach is balanced by a collaborative spirit and a deep respect for community input. He listens carefully, evaluates situations critically, and follows through with integrity and fairness.

Our village needs leaders like Rob Coburn, someone who pairs vision with action, and strategy with service. I wholeheartedly support his candidacy for village trustee and encourage others to do the same.
