The Wrong Place

To be able to provide affordable housing to veterans and others with low incomes all sounds good, except the subsidiary is only good for 20 years. After which the rents can no longer be stabilized, and can be brought to market value, which will leave a lot of homeless. It should be lifetime.

I was a tenant in an affordable housing project for 30 years and saw my rent escalate to an amount that was unaffordable.

However, this is not the best venue for this project. County Road 39 is overpopulated now; traffic is often bumper to bumper in that area. Also, this project is not for locals — anyone from anywhere in the United States can apply.

How is this proposed housing going to help the residents of Southampton?
