Theodore “Ted” Anderson Jr. died on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home in Conway, South Carolina, surrounded by his family. He was 80.
Born in Southampton, he was the son of the late Theodore Carl Anderson Sr. and Maud Clem Anderson. He was a graduate of Brown University and served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and the Marine Reserves for nine years. He was a buyer for Bloomingdales and Allied stores, both in New York. He also owned and operated Ted’s market for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diane Anderson; his children, Theodore Anderson III (Elena) of Texas, Deborah Dias of Conway, Carol Schellinger (Richard) of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Anderson of Southampton; grandchildren, Katy Anderson, Alexander Anderson, Jacob Schellinger, Emily Schellinger and Garrette Glinton; and a great-grandson, Garrette Glinton.
He was predeceased by a sister, June Virginia Price; and brother-in-law, Arthur Price.
A memorial service was held April 24 at Centenary United Methodist Church, officiated by the Reverend Dennis Devorick. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery.
