Kudos to Suzanne Ruggles of Westhampton for her letter regarding our dear friends, the leaf blowing landscapers [“The Menace,” Letters, September 25]. Southampton Village managed to outlaw them entirely, but the town couldn’t quite follow. Only during the summer months are they illegal. I wonder why.
Of course, the law was ignored, until I made a copy of the ordinance and began distributing it to the workers. I managed to translate it into Spanish. If there was a telephone number on the truck, I called it and, of course, my complaint was met with “Really! I didn’t know!”
So now I have a job with the town.
