Thomas M. Dowell of Hampton Bays died at his home on Monday, August 11. He was 48.

Mr. Dowell was a New York City police officer who worked for the Transit Bureau, District #20 in Queens.

He is survived by his mother,
Geraldine Holzman Dowell of Jackson Heights; a brother, David W. Dowell, and his wife, Maria, of Staten
Island; a sister, Maureen Dowell; two nephews, Christopher Dowell and Jason Belle; and a niece, Regina
Dowell.

A wake and prayer service were held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on August 14. A funeral service was held at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays on August 15. Cremation followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.

Our Sag Harbor park tennis courts are under siege. There are eight clay courts and two hard courts. Information was just given at the start of the season that the hard courts will be given over to pickleball, as they were last season, but will be resurfaced and used only for pickleball — not to be shared for tennis, also.
