Jury selection began Monday for the trial of the former manager of the Poxabogue Golf Center in Sagaponack, who was arrested in July 2015 after being accused of snapping an inappropriate photograph of an underage girl from behind a one-way window, then sharing the image with employees.Prosecutors say the trial of Steven Lee, 47, of Ronkonkoma is expected to begin Thursday, March 16, before Suffolk County Court Judge John J. Toomey Jr. at the court complex in Riverside.Police accused Mr. Lee of taking the photo of the girl with his cellphone in July 2015 as she sat on a bench outside a clubhouse window, which offers a view out of the office but not in. The photograph focused on the girl’s “crotch area and undergarments,” police said at the time. Though the victim’s age was not given, she was under 17 when the photograph was taken, according to court documents.The incident took place at the town-owned golf center, according to court documents, and three employees reported to police on October 15 that they had viewed the image.Mr. Lee was arraigned in July 2016 and is being charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony. He is being represented by James O’Shea of Southampton-based O’Shea, Marcincuk & Bruyn, LLP, who did not return multiple calls this week seeking comment.Mr. Lee’s company, Steven Lee Golf Inc., previously managed the Southampton Town-owned Poxabogue Golf Center, but after his arrest, he was terminated. In April 2016, the town hired Pin High Golf Management LLC to oversee operations and maintenance of the nine-hole public golf course, as well as the pro shop and driving range.
