A truck driving on North Sea Road pulled down wires and the poles that they were attached to on Thursday, April 7, at both the West Prospect Street intersection and where North Sea Road meets Windmill Lane and Bowden Square, according to an email alert from Southampton Village.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a Village Police officer was standing at North Sea Road and Windmill Lane, directing vehicles to take detours. A wooden pole in front of Dime Bank was snapped at the base, and leaned over North Sea Road. The wires the pole was attached to kept it from falling all the way down.

North Sea Road was still blocked at that intersection as of 3:30 p.m. as utility workers endeavored to repair the damage.

One of the two traffic lights at the West Prospect Street intersection hung upside down though still high enough that cars could pass underneath.
