A nearly half-mile stretch of Tuckahoe Road that runs through the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton will be closed for the next three weeks for the upcoming U.S. Open golf tournament.

Southampton Town Police said Tuckahoe Road will be closed between County Road 39 and Terrace Drive until June 21.

The tournament will run from June 11 to 17, but the extended closure will allow U.S. Open officials additional time to add the finishing touches to the golf course—and then tear everything down after a winner is crowned.
