The Southampton Town Police arrested two men on Sunday, September 2, after receiving a call from a Speonk resident who reported that he was chased from the Speonk train station in an attempted robbery.Additionally, another victim, who was waiting at the Speonk train station, reported that the same two men approached him and stole his cellphone before taking off into a wooded area west of the train station.Nick Lauro, 38, of Patchogue and Christopher Moya-Reyes, 24, of Shirley were both charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, a felony, and Mr. Moya-Reyes was additionally charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.At approximately 5 p.m., responding officers located the victims, one of whom had been injured, and obtained a description of the two perpetrators. Police did not specify the victim’s injuries.In collaboration with New York State Police, Town Police officers established a perimeter near the train station and located Mr. Lauro and Mr. Moya-Reyes, who were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters in Hampton Bays for processing.
