According to the PSEG website, power has been restored to all customers in Southampton Village.
Approximately 651 customers were still without power in Southampton Village as of 1:20 p.m., Tuesday.
According to a map on the PSEG website, affected customers on the eastern portion of the village would likely see their power return around 2:15 p.m. However, customers on the western portion of the village would likely be without power until around 4:15 p.m.
More than 1,000 businesses and homes lost power in Southampton Village on the Fourth of July.
According to the PSEG Long Island website, a power outage affected customers throughout a large section the village from Hill Street to Southampton Hospital on Tuesday.
Shortly after noon, a stray Mylar balloon was let loose from nearby holiday celebrations and became caught in a transformer on Jobs Lane, causing the transformer to blow, according to Southampton Village Police Lieutenant Chris Wetter.
Traffic lights throughout the village, including the Windmill Lane and Nugent Street light, as well as the signal at the North Sea Road intersection were out as of 12:45 p.m.
Southampton Hospital was not affected by the outage, officials said.
It was unclear how long the power would remain off.
