State Police have identified the driver of the Mercedes Benz. Gumercindo Tinit-Tezen, 28, of Mastic was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.
Two people were killed in a head-on crash on Sunrise Highway in East Quogue late Tuesday night.
According to State Police, Michelle Navas, 28, of Hicksville was traveling in the westbound lanes of the highway just east of Exit 64 at abut 10 p.m. on December 17 when her 2008 Toyota Camry was struck by a 2004 Mercedes Benz E320, which was traveling east in the westbound lanes.
Ms. Navas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz, who police did not identify pending notification of family members, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center and died from injuries sustained from the collision, police said.
No other occupants were in either vehicle.
Sunrise Highway was closed to traffic while police investigated the accident.
