Community members showed up to the North Sea Community Association's annual memorial service to pay tribute to those lost in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and to thank servicemen for risking their lives to save others.
People recalled where they were and what they were doing on this day, 14 years ago.

Communities on the East End on Friday will pay respect to those who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks 14 years ago.
In North Sea, members of the North Sea Community Association will hold their annual memorial service at 8:30 a.m. at the one-room schoolhouse on Noyac Road near Straight Path. They will ring the bell at 8:46 a.m., the time that American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. All are welcome and food will be served.
In East Hampton, the Fire Chief's Association and local fire department members will congregate at the Hook Mill at 6 p.m. in East Hampton Village for a memorial service to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks, including those in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
The Hampton Bays Elementary School will also hold a flag ceremony at 9:30 a.m., honoring those who perished in the attacks.
